Human-Centred XR Training for Analogue Space Missions
Details
The project aims to design and validate immersive XR-based training environments for analogue space missions, with a strong focus on human-centred learning, collaboration and decision-making in extreme and autonomous contexts. Analogue missions offer a unique research and training setting in which technical constraints, cognitive load, stress, teamwork and responsibility are tightly intertwined.
XR is used not only as a simulation technology, but as an interactive learning and research environment that makes complex situations experientially accessible and allows systematic investigation of human behaviour and human–technology interaction. Training scenarios will be developed through co-creative processes involving analogue astronauts, mission experts and researchers.
The project is designed with cross-domain relevance in mind: insights, methods and training concepts are expected to transfer to other high-stakes fields such as emergency management, safety-critical operations, industrial training or healthcare.
We seek European partners in XR/VR development, human-centred AI, learning sciences, psychology, HCI, as well as organisations interested in piloting or validating training approaches in demanding real-world contexts.
