Hubert Hasenauer

Hubert Hasenauer, born in 1962, worked for 5 years as forest manager with the federal forest company in western Austria before he started his academic education at BOKU University. After his Master (1991) and PhD (1994), both in Forestry, he worked three years in the USA and Finland as a Fullbright and Schrödinger Scholar before he was as Professor and head of the Institute of Silviculture at BOKU. 

Besides his research and teaching he chaired the academic BOKU Senat for 7 years (2010 – 2017) before he was elected as Rector/President of BOKU University for four years (Feb. 2018 - Jan. 2022). In February 2022, he returned in his position as Professor for Forest Ecosystem Management and Head of the Institute of Silviculture, where his main research focus is on continuous cover forest management, ecosystem modeling and the role of forests for the global carbon cycle.
