They are the technological backbone of digitization. With the research areas Sensor Systems, Intelligent Wireless Systems, Power Electronics and Embedded Systems, SAL offers "Key Enabling Technologies" precisely for these electronics-based systems and lays the foundation for intelligent products and processes that lay the groundwork for topics such as Industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IOT), autonomous driving, cyber-physical systems (CPS), AI, Smart City, Smart Energy or Smart Health. Research is conducted at both model and hardware level (components, assemblies and devices with micro- and nanoelectronics) as well as at the associated embedded software level, combined with the holistic knowledge of comprehensive system integration.
